Chandelier Installation FAQ
Have questions about chandelier installation, chandelier cleaning, fixture pickup, delivery, ceiling support, dimmer installation, crystal assembly, scheduling, pricing, or payment? This FAQ page answers common questions from homeowners, designers, builders, real estate agents, and customers purchasing new, antique, vintage, or pre-owned chandeliers.
Chandelier Installation provides professional chandelier installation, removal, cleaning, transport, packing, and related fixture services throughout the Atlanta area. Because every chandelier and ceiling condition is different, pricing and scheduling may depend on fixture size, ceiling height, weight, assembly requirements, access conditions, electrical box support, and whether the fixture is new, used, antique, or already assembled.
If you are planning a chandelier project, please review the answers below before requesting a quote. For custom packing or transport needs, visit our chandelier crating and shipping page. For antique, vintage, Murano, crystal, pre-owned, or sentimental fixtures, also review the Fragile Fixture Liability Acknowledgment.

Does an inspection or attic access fee get credited toward future work?
No. Inspection, evaluation, attic access, site visit, or diagnostic fees are separate service fees and are not credited toward a later installation, repair, reinforcement, or additional work invoice. These fees cover the time, travel, equipment, labor, and professional evaluation required to visit the property, access the work area, inspect ceiling or attic conditions, move insulation when necessary, locate framing or support points, take measurements, and determine what materials or work may be needed. If additional work is recommended after the inspection, that work will be quoted separately and must be approved as a separate scope of work.
Should I assemble my chandelier and attach all of the crystals before it is installed?
Generally, no. For most crystal chandeliers, the safest and most practical installation sequence is to assemble the structural frame as required, raise and securely install the chandelier, complete the electrical and mounting work, and then attach the crystals after the fixture is hanging. Attaching all of the crystals before the chandelier is installed does not usually save installation labor or reduce the installation price. In many cases, it does the opposite. A fully dressed chandelier is heavier, more fragile, more difficult to control while being raised, and more likely to experience crystal movement during lifting and positioning. When a chandelier is lifted with the crystals already attached, individual pieces can swing into one another, detach, chip, crack, or break. The additional crystal weight also increases the total suspended load that must be controlled while the fixture is raised and secured, which is especially significant on high ceilings. If your chandelier has already been assembled with the crystals attached, please send us photos, the approximate fixture weight, dimensions, ceiling height, andβif availableβthe manufacturer's product information before scheduling. We can determine whether the fixture can reasonably be installed in its current condition and whether additional handling requirements or pricing apply. If you choose to remove the crystals before installation, you may reinstall them yourself after the chandelier frame is installed. If you would like us to install the crystals after the fixture is hanging, crystal installation is a separate labor service and is priced based on the number of individual crystals, their complexity, and the ceiling height. Important: "Already assembled" or "ready to hang" does not necessarily mean easier or less expensive to install. For crystal chandeliers, installing the crystals at the correct stage of the installation process is important for safer handling and helps reduce the risk of damage.

Iβm interested in having a chandelier installed β what is the pricing?
Iβm interested in having a chandelier installed β what is the pricing? Chandelier installation pricing depends on several key factors that affect the complexity and time required to complete your project: π The type of chandelier (crystal vs. non-crystal) π The size and weight of the chandelier π The ceiling height at the installation site π The number of crystals (if applicable) π Your distance from our Atlanta location To get a general estimate, click below to visit our pricing calculator and enter your address: π‘ Get a Pricing Estimate To receive an accurate quote and ensure we arrive fully prepared, please text the following details to 404-984-7900: πΈ A photo of your current ceiling fixture (if it needs to be removed) πΈ A photo of the ceiling area where the new chandelier will be installed πΈ A photo of the new chandelier (in box or assembled) π Or a link to the manufacturerβs product page with weight, size, and specs π Your name, email, and installation address This helps us properly assess your chandelier installation and provide an accurate quote based on your specific needs. Weβll respond with your estimate and scheduling options. Thank you!
What is included in my quote or invoice?
What is included in my quote or invoice? π The services included in your quote or invoice are limited strictly to the items listed as individual line items. All work is performed on an Γ la carte basis, meaning each service is separately itemized, priced, and approved in advance. Our quotes and invoices are structured to ensure clarity and accuracy, and include only the services specifically listed. This allows each project to be completed based on the exact scope of work required. π§Ύ Each service is listed as a separate line item with its own pricing π Only the items shown in your approved quote or invoice are included β Any additional work or requests are not included by default βοΈ Additional services require a separate quote and written approval before proceeding β οΈ Please note: Requests such as cleaning, modifications, repairs, or additional installation work are not included unless explicitly listed in your approved estimate or invoice. If additional services are requested, they will be reviewed and quoted separately prior to performing the work. This approach ensures full transparency, proper planning, and allows all work to be completed safely and correctly based on the specific requirements of your project.
Can I bring my already assembled chandelier home myself?
Can I bring my already assembled chandelier home myself? Transporting an already assembled chandelier by yourself is strongly discouraged unless you have the correct packing materials and experience to do so safely. Chandeliers are extremely delicate and should ideally be transported in a hanging position, fully supported from the center stem. Crystals, arms, and all decorative components must be tightly secured to prevent movement and breakage during transit. Even a short ride in a vehicle can cause major damage due to vibration or sudden impact. One broken arm, crystal, or stem can often make the chandelier unrepairable β or more expensive to fix than simply replacing it. For that reason, we highly recommend using professional chandelier delivery services that provide suspension crates or hanging transport systems. If your chandelier is already assembled and you still choose to move it yourself, please understand that all risk of damage is your responsibility. We cannot assume any liability for customer-handled transportation.
What kind of bulbs should I purchase for my chandelier?
What kind of bulbs should I purchase for my chandelier? We highly recommend using E12 Candelabra base, dimmable LED light bulbs for most chandelier installations. These are our top choice for three key reasons: π‘ Longevity: LED bulbs last much longer than incandescent or halogen options β especially important for hard-to-reach chandeliers installed in tall foyers or vaulted ceilings. β‘ Energy Efficiency: They consume a fraction of the electricity while delivering the same light output, helping reduce your energy bills over time. ποΈ Dimmer Compatibility: Dimmable LED bulbs work much better with modern dimmer switches, using less power and generating less heat. See our dimmer FAQ for more info. π₯ Watch this video for a helpful overview of LED chandelier bulbs. Important tips before purchasing: π Check for "Dimmable": Not all LED bulbs can be dimmed. Make sure the packaging clearly says βDimmableβ β non-dimmable LEDs will not respond to dimmer switches. π¨ Choose the right color temperature: LED bulbs range from 2700K (warm/yellow light) to 5000K (cool/white light). Test a few options if you're unsure, and always use the same brand and model in a single chandelier to avoid mismatched color tones. π οΈ If you would like us to install light bulbs during your chandelier installation, please notify us in advance and have the bulbs ready at the time of our visit. Bulb installation is not included in the chandelier installation fee and may be subject to additional charges depending on: Ceiling height Number of bulbs Time and accessibility Please contact us with any questions or bulb preferences ahead of your scheduled installation so we can assist you properly!
Does the quote include reinforcing my ceiling for my new fixture or chandelier?
Does the quote include reinforcing my ceiling for my new fixture or chandelier? No, reinforcing the ceiling or replacing the ceiling outlet box is not included in our standard chandelier installation quotes. All services are billed Γ la carte and must be clearly listed as separate line items in your estimate or invoice. If we determine during your installation that the existing ceiling outlet box cannot safely support your new chandelier or light fixture, we will pause the work and notify you immediately. Youβll receive a recommendation and a separate quote before any additional work is performed. We will never install a heavy chandelier or fixture onto an outlet box that we deem unsafe or improperly secured. Every home has different ceiling structures, access conditions, and materials β support requirements vary depending on the specific scenario and cannot be quoted in advance. π§ We strongly advise replacing outdated or questionable ceiling outlet boxes, especially if the fixture being installed is heavy, large, or replacing multiple older fixtures. Over time, mounting ears and brackets can strip or loosen, creating a serious safety risk. Important: Ceiling box replacement is often a complex task. Many electrical boxes were installed before ceiling drywall or plaster, meaning we may need to cut or remove part of your ceiling to complete the work. We do not provide drywall patching, finishing, or painting services after ceiling reinforcement or box replacement. π΅ Ceiling box replacement starts at $240. Learn more about whatβs involved by visiting our dedicated service page:
Will my new chandelier require additional support?
Will my new chandelier require additional support? Possibly β it depends on the fixtureβs weight and your ceilingβs existing structure. Many modern chandeliers are heavier than standard ceiling lights, and additional support may be required to ensure safe installation. Unfortunately, we cannot determine this in advance β the final decision can only be made during our on-site inspection. π We do not include attic access or structural reinforcement in standard chandelier installation quotes. These services are considered optional add-ons and are billed separately. If you request attic access in advance or if we observe concerns during a ground-level inspection, weβll notify you before proceeding. π« We will not install any chandelier unless we are fully confident that your existing ceiling outlet box and mounting structure can safely support the fixture. π§ We carry a full range of ceiling brackets, crossbars, and support kits to resolve most issues on the same day. If any reinforcement or ceiling box replacement is necessary, youβll be informed of the cost before we begin any additional work. π For added security β especially with heavier fixtures β we may recommend installing a chandelier security cable. Learn more about this added protection here:
What do I need to do at my home before my scheduled chandelier installation?
What do I need to do at my home before my scheduled chandelier installation? Before your chandelier installation, itβs essential to prepare your home properly to ensure safety, efficiency, and protection of your belongings. β Please make sure the entire area beneath the chandelier installation site is completely cleared of: Furniture such as tables, chairs, sofas, and cabinets Decorative items like planters, rugs, and wall art Any other personal belongings or fragile objects πͺ Pathways from your front entrance to the installation area β including hallways, staircases, and doorways β should also be free of any obstructions or delicate items. We will be carrying large ladders and equipment that could accidentally bump or damage objects left in place. πͺ If your fixture requires scaffolding or dolly equipment (especially for high ceilings), we will need significant space to set up. We also make multiple trips to and from the truck, so please be aware that your front door may remain open during this time. Secure any pets in a separate area to prevent them from running out or becoming startled. ποΈ We do not move furniture or dΓ©cor as part of our service. Preparing the space in advance helps avoid delays and ensures we can work safely and efficiently. π For more helpful guidance, visit our: π What to Expect Before Installation π After Installation Care Guide Thank you for your cooperation β a little prep goes a long way toward a successful and smooth chandelier installation!
Will you dispose of my old ceiling fan or light fixture when replacing it with a new one?
Will you dispose of my old ceiling fan or light fixture when replacing it with a new one? No, we do not include disposal services by default as part of your chandelier or light fixture installation. While we will safely remove your old ceiling fan, light fixture, or chandelier during the installation process, we do not haul away or dispose of removed items or any packaging materials unless this has been specifically requested and quoted in advance. β»οΈ If you would like us to dispose of your old fixture, we may be able to accommodate this service for an additional disposal fee starting at $150. This covers the labor, time, and travel involved in transporting your old fixture to an appropriate disposal site or dumpster. However, this option must be arranged before your scheduled installation. π« Please note: Disposal services are not always available. Our truck space may be limited, or we may have back-to-back installations that prevent us from carrying additional items. β We recommend considering a charity donation pickup, local recycling service, or your municipalityβs bulk trash pickup program for safe and efficient disposal of your old lighting fixture.
If my chandelier or light fixture is installed but later found to be defective, will I be charged to replace it?
If my chandelier or light fixture is installed but later found to be defective, will I be charged to replace it? Yes β if a chandelier or fixture youβve provided is found to be defective and needs to be removed and replaced, there will be a separate charge for both the removal and the second installation. Our installers are not responsible for the performance, quality, or warranty of fixtures purchased independently by the homeowner. Once we arrive at your home, set up equipment, and complete the installation, our work is considered complete β regardless of whether the fixture functions as expected. If a manufacturer defect or compatibility issue is discovered afterward, a new service fee will apply to return, remove the faulty unit, and install a replacement. β οΈ Please ensure in advance that your fixture is: β Tested and in working condition β Covered by a valid manufacturerβs warranty β Compatible with your existing electrical and dimmer setup (if applicable) π‘ LED chandeliers and fixtures, in particular, may contain internal ballasts or drivers that can cause issues like flickering, humming, or complete failure β especially when used with incompatible dimmers. π If you plan to use a dimmer switch, be sure to purchase both a dimmable fixture and the correct compatible dimmer model. Refer to the manufacturerβs specifications for guidance. Note: If you purchased your chandelier or light fixture directly through us, your service may include additional protection or warranty coverage. Please review your original quote or contact us here for clarification or assistance.
I bought a chandelier on sale β why is the installation cost more than what I paid for the fixture?
I bought a chandelier on sale β why is the installation cost more than what I paid for the fixture? This is a common question, so we thought it would be helpful to address it directly here. The price you paid for your chandelier β whether it was a high-end designer piece or a great deal from Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, or an outlet store β has no bearing whatsoever on the cost to install it. Our installation pricing is based on the actual time, labor, risk, and overhead involved in completing your project safely and professionally, including: π Travel time, fuel, and vehicle wear and tear πͺ Setup and teardown of ladders, scaffolding, or specialized equipment π οΈ Licensing, insurance, and safety compliance β‘ Precision electrical work requiring experience and care π Scheduling, coordination, and customer support time Whether your chandelier cost $100 or $10,000, the effort required to install it doesnβt change β especially for tall ceilings, fragile crystal designs, or complex mounts. Our goal is to provide top-quality service at a fair rate that covers our operating costs and allows us to continue offering expert installations. If we werenβt making a profit, weβd be better off staying home and watching TV, right? π
Are there any additional charges that I might be charged?
Are there any additional charges that I might be charged? π¬ Very possibly, yes! While we always aim to provide an accurate estimate prior to your chandelier or light fixture installation, there are situations where additional charges may arise once we are on-site. π― Our initial quote is based on the details you provide β including the size and weight of the fixture, ceiling height, installation location, and accessibility. If any of these details are missing, incorrect, or have changed since the quote was issued, we will reassess and inform you before starting any work. π Itβs not uncommon for unexpected issues to be discovered after removing an existing fixture or during the prep phase, such as: π οΈ Attic access or crawl space entry needed for support upgrades β οΈ Faulty or outdated ceiling outlet boxes that must be replaced π© Additional parts or mounting brackets required 𧱠Electrical complications or obstacles hidden behind drywall or trim π§ If any of these issues arise, weβll clearly explain the situation, why the added work is needed, and provide the updated cost. Youβll always be given the choice to approve or decline before we move forward. Transparency is our policy: We never add hidden charges or surprise fees. Our mission is to deliver a safe and professional installation, even when unexpected challenges arise.
If we discover an issue after installation, is there a charge to come back out and address it?
If we discover an issue after installation, is there a charge to come back out and address it? π§ Yes, there is a charge for return visits after installation is completed. We aim to ensure 100% satisfaction with every project β whether it involves chandelier assembly, installation, ceiling box replacement, or removal of an existing fixture. Before we leave your home, we will walk you through the completed work and confirm: βοΈ Chandelier height and positioning βοΈ Crystal count and visual alignment βοΈ Overall completeness and presentation This is the appropriate time to request any adjustments or raise concerns. Once you approve the installation, weβll remove all tools and equipment, finalize your invoice, and email you a copy before departing. β±οΈ If you discover something after we've left β whether itβs a change of mind, a missed detail, or an additional adjustment β a new service fee will apply to schedule a return visit. This includes time, travel, equipment setup, and labor costs associated with revisiting the site. π΅ The minimum return trip fee is $150, and youβll receive a quote or separate invoice before scheduling. Weβre happy to help resolve any issue, but to avoid extra charges, we recommend reviewing the installation carefully before we complete the job. Thank you for your understanding!
Do you offer a military discount?
Do you offer a military discount? ποΈ Yes, we proudly offer a discount for active-duty military service members and their immediate families as a thank-you for their current service and ongoing commitment. πΊπΈ At this time, this discount does not extend to veterans or former service members whose military service is in the past. We truly appreciate the sacrifices made by all who have served. While our military discount is currently limited to active-duty personnel, our pricing already reflects fair value and transparent service costs for all clients, regardless of background.
Do you haul away the chandelierβs shipping boxes or crates after installation?
Do you haul away the chandelierβs shipping boxes or crates after installation? π« No, we do not provide packaging disposal for chandeliers purchased independently by the customer. Since we are not the seller of the fixture, we are not responsible for its packaging, and we do not have space in our vehicle to haul away large boxes, crates, or packing materials after installation. β If your chandelier was purchased directly through us, removal and disposal of shipping materials is included in your quote and handled as part of the service. π¦ For all other chandelier installations, please arrange to dispose of boxes, foam inserts, wood crates, or pallets using your local recycling or bulk trash services. π» Packaging disposal may be available for an additional fee, but only if it is requested and quoted in advance. Please let us know when booking if youβd like this added to your installation service.
What happens if I need to reschedule part of my chandelier service β such as installation β after the removal has already been completed?
What happens if I need to reschedule part of my chandelier service β such as installation β after the removal has already been completed? Our quotes are based on coordinated, same-day or same-week service unless otherwise agreed upon in writing. If you've scheduled a chandelier removal and reinstallation and then request to delay the reinstallation β after weβve already completed the removal β this affects our schedule, storage needs, and operational planning. In this case, additional charges will apply to accommodate the change: π¦ Storage Fee: A fee will be charged for safely storing your disassembled chandelier until the new installation date. This is based on time, fixture size, and handling complexity. π Rescheduling Fee: Since we reserved time specifically for your full project, a new booking will be required and will include a return trip fee, often similar to the original installation quote. β οΈ Important: Last-minute changes reduce our ability to book other clients and may require us to store fragile components not intended for long-term storage. If your new home or project space is not ready, please notify us at least 48 hours in advance so we can adjust your quote accordingly. We understand construction delays happen. However, mid-service postponements result in additional risks, storage responsibilities, and lost availability β all of which must be reflected in your updated invoice.
What happens if my chandelier breaks during removal, transport, storage, or reinstallation?
What happens if my chandelier breaks during removal, transport, storage, or reinstallation? We handle chandeliers with careful planning and reasonable care, including antique, crystal, Murano glass, vintage, pre-owned, and previously installed fixtures. Even so, these fixtures can be inherently fragile. Damage-free removal, disassembly, transport, storage, repair handling, or reinstallation cannot be guaranteed. Older and delicate fixtures may contain hidden fractures, brittle glass, fatigued metal, weakened arms, rusted or seized fittings, old solder, deteriorated wiring, loose sockets, prior repairs, missing parts, corrosion, or other concealed conditions that are not visible until the fixture is moved or opened. A component may fail even when handled carefully. Unique antique, vintage, Murano, crystal, or custom parts may be difficult or impossible to replace. The value of an older fixture can also be subjective, sentimental, undocumented, or different from what a customer, seller, appraiser, or insurer believes it to be. Hiring Shawn Penoyer, LLC does not mean we are appraisers, insurers, restorers, or experts in the exact maker, origin, history, materials, or market value of that specific antique fixture. For fragile, antique, vintage, Murano, crystal, pre-owned, previously installed, high-value, or sentimental fixtures, we may require a separate Fragile Fixture Liability Acknowledgment before removal, disassembly, transport, storage, repair handling, packing, crating, or reinstallation. We may also decline the work if the fixture condition, access, customer expectations, insurance situation, or requested risk allocation is not acceptable. Insurance and claims: Customer/property insurance is the primary source to which any covered property damage claim should be submitted first, subject to the actual terms, exclusions, limits, deductibles, and determinations of the applicable insurance carrier. If the customer believes the fixture is high-value, irreplaceable, antique, sentimental, collectible, custom, or otherwise difficult to replace, the customer should consult their insurance professional before work begins and obtain any appropriate scheduled-property endorsement, valuable-articles rider, inland-marine coverage, cargo coverage, or similar insurance rider needed to cover removal, handling, repair, storage, transport, packing, crating, or reinstallation. After the customer's applicable insurer has reviewed the claim, any remaining question involving Shawn Penoyer, LLC's commercial insurance is subject to applicable law, the customer's policy, our policy, and the determinations of the applicable insurance carriers. Nothing in this policy waives liability for gross negligence, willful or wanton misconduct, fraud, or any other rights or responsibilities that cannot lawfully be waived.
Do you install ceiling fans?
Do you install ceiling fans? β Yes, we install ceiling fans, including standard and high-ceiling models. Our team can handle both new installations and replacements of existing fixtures. Our ceiling fan installation service includes: π§ Safe removal of your existing light or fan fixture β‘ Secure electrical connection to a ceiling fan-rated junction box πͺ Professional mounting and balancing of the fan blades π Testing of all fan speeds and lighting functions β οΈ Please note: We do not perform attic wiring upgrades or install junction boxes where none exist. If your ceiling box is not fan-rated or lacks proper support, additional fees may apply to replace or reinforce it. We will notify you of any such requirements before we proceed. For ceilings above 12 feet, special ladders or scaffolding may be required and quoted separately. Please provide details about your ceiling height when requesting your estimate.
What are your Hourly Rates?
Our standard hourly rate is $150, with a minimum service fee of $150 for all installation projects. While most services are billed as flat-rate, fixed-fee installations, hourly rates apply in situations such as: Custom labor requests not covered by standard pricing Hanging artwork, mirrors, or non-lighting items Unforeseen delays or additional work not included in the original quote We do not offer half-hour or reduced pricing for short jobs. Once our time is reserved for your appointment, that block is committed and billed accordingly. π¬ Need an estimate? Call or text us with your project details β weβll be happy to provide a flat quote when possible, or confirm if hourly billing applies.
When is payment due for chandelier installation or other services?
When is payment due for chandelier installation or other services? π³ Unless otherwise stated in writing, payment is due in full on the day of service completion β before we leave your home or job site. Youβre welcome to pay in advance if preferred, especially when scheduling online or to secure your appointment. In some cases (such as specialty services or high-risk jobs), prepayment may be required. Any such requirement will be clearly outlined in your quote or booking confirmation. π‘ If installation conditions change upon arrival β including fixture size, ceiling height, access difficulty, or electrical issues β weβll let you know immediately if the price needs to be adjusted before we begin the work. β οΈ Important Payment Policy: A $35.00 late payment fee will be added to your invoice if payment is not received before our team departs the property on the day your service is completed. π οΈ We proudly stand behind our work with a 100% satisfaction guarantee and are fully insured. Our reputation is built on professional service and hundreds of 5-star reviews on Google.

Can you pick up my chandelier from a store and deliver it to my home?
Can you pick up my chandelier from a store and deliver it to my home? Yes, when pickup and delivery are specifically quoted and we can safely control the handling process. Pricing depends on distance, fixture size and weight, whether the chandelier is boxed or fully assembled, store access, required personnel, equipment, fragility, and whether packing or disassembly is required. A factory-boxed or professionally packed fixture is generally simpler to transport than a chandelier that is hanging in a showroom or already fully assembled. Antique, vintage, Murano, crystal, pre-owned, or otherwise fragile fixtures may require partial or full disassembly, custom protective boxing, internal support, crating, additional personnel, or another handling method before transport. Custom corrugated boxing and wood crating are available when separately quoted; full wood crating is generally reserved for freight, third-party carrier handling, or projects requiring a higher level of protection. For third-party pickups, the customer is responsible for confirming release authorization and verifying that the correct fixture and intended parts are included. Unless a separate inspection or appraisal service is purchased, accepting a fixture for transport does not mean Shawn Penoyer, LLC has authenticated, appraised, inventoried, or guaranteed the fixture's condition, completeness, age, origin, or value. We may decline pickup or transport if the fixture is unstable, inadequately packed, materially different from what was described, or cannot be handled with reasonable safety. Fragile or high-value projects may require acceptance of our Fragile Fixture Liability Acknowledgment before pickup, disassembly, packing, transport, storage, or later installation.
Do you offer a discount if I want to install multiple chandeliers or light fixtures at the same time?
Do you offer a discount if I want to install multiple chandeliers or light fixtures at the same time? Yes β we often provide discounted pricing for multiple chandelier or light fixture installations completed during the same service visit. If you're scheduling more than one item to be installed or adjusted, we may be able to offer a bundled quote or reduced per-fixture rate depending on the total scope of work. π‘ Important note about bundled and per-item pricing: When a quote is requested for multiple fixtures, pricing is calculated based on completing the full scope of work during the same visit. If the scope is later reduced after a quote is provided (for example, removing one or more fixtures from the original request), the per-item pricing will increase to account for travel, setup time, and minimum service requirements. Bundled or discounted pricing cannot be retained when fewer items are performed. π§ Discounts are based on: π οΈ The number of fixtures being installed or adjusted π The size, weight, and complexity of each fixture β±οΈ The estimated total installation time required To help us provide accurate pricing, please text us the following: πΈ Clear photos of each chandelier or fixture π Photos of each room or ceiling where installation will take place π Links to manufacturer product pages for specs and sizing (if available) You can also contact us here to share your project details or request a personalized quote. I would like a dimmer installed. Can you install a dimmer for our new chandelier?
I would like a dimmer installed. Can you install a dimmer for our new chandelier? π¬ Yes. We can install a customer-supplied dimmer switch for your new chandelier when the dimmer is compatible with the fixture, bulbs, wiring, and switch location. Customers are responsible for purchasing the dimmer in advance because dimmers come in many different styles, colors, ratings, and control types, including toggle dimmers, slide dimmers, rocker dimmers, push-button dimmers, smart dimmers, single-pole dimmers, 3-way dimmers, and 4-way dimmers. Dimmer installation is often discounted when we are already at your home completing another project, such as a chandelier installation. The discounted price depends on the project scope and existing wiring conditions, and in some cases may be discounted up to 50% compared with a standalone dimmer installation visit. β οΈ Single-pole dimmers are usually more straightforward, while 3-way or 4-way dimmers may require additional time, troubleshooting, or specific compatible dimmer models. Some fixtures, especially LED chandeliers or fixtures with LED drivers, transformers, or ballasts, may require specialty dimmers designed for that specific load type. If your existing dimmer makes a high-pitched noise, gets hot, flickers, buzzes, does not dim properly, or does not work at all, additional evaluation may be needed to determine whether the issue is caused by the dimmer, bulbs, LED driver, fixture, wiring, or compatibility.
Do I need to hire a licensed electrician to install my chandelier or light fixture?
Do I need to hire a licensed electrician to install my chandelier or light fixture? In most cases, no β hiring a licensed electrician is not required when replacing an existing light fixture or chandelier. If you already have a ceiling outlet box in place, we can safely remove your old fixture and install the new one by connecting just 2β3 standard wires. This type of replacement does not require a licensed electrician under most local building codes. β οΈ However, there are certain cases where hiring a licensed electrician may be necessary: π You're installing a light where there is no existing wiring or electrical box ποΈ Your home has old, brittle, or aluminum wiring that may need updating β οΈ Youβve had prior electrical issues or safety concerns in the area π‘ You're switching to a much larger fixture with more bulbs and higher wattage While we are not licensed electricians, we are experienced chandelier and ceiling fixture installers with hundreds of successful installations. Many clients choose us for our specialized focus, efficiency, and clear communication. If you're unsure about the condition of your wiring or electrical box, we recommend consulting with a licensed electrician prior to installation. We're happy to coordinate with your electrician as needed to ensure a safe, smooth project.
Can I schedule my chandelier installation after hours or on the weekend?

While our standard operating hours are Monday through Friday, 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, we do offer after-hours or weekend chandelier installation appointments by special request. β οΈ Please note the following: π Saturday or Sunday appointments are limited and may include an additional fee depending on timing, travel, or holiday conflicts. ποΈ Holiday scheduling is generally unavailable, but exceptions may be made under certain circumstances β with premium pricing. π All appointments are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis. Confirmed appointments take priority over tentative holds. Weβll do our best to accommodate your availability β but please request your preferred day and time as soon as possible. Our calendar fills up quickly, especially for high-demand dates. Need a Sunday or after-hours installation? Just contact us here with your request and weβll confirm availability and any additional cost if applicable.
Do you install ceiling medallions with chandelier installations?
Do you install ceiling medallions with chandelier installations? β Yes, we do install ceiling medallions as part of chandelier or light fixture installations. Our pricing depends on both the size or diameter of the medallion and the height of your ceiling. You can find current rates on our Chandelier Installation Pricing page. π¨ Please note: We do not offer painting or caulking services. Your ceiling medallion should be fully painted and completely dry before our arrival. This avoids the need to bring in a painter after the medallion is mounted β which is typically more difficult and expensive. 𧱠If you're replacing an existing ceiling medallion, be aware that most are glued tightly to the ceiling. Removing them can result in: Ceiling surface damage Paint discoloration or caulk residue Visible cosmetic issues These conditions are not covered under our standard installation service, and we do not provide drywall patching or repairs. β οΈ Additionally, most ceilings are not perfectly flat, especially around the junction box. Ceiling medallions are flat by design and may not sit flush in all areas. This can leave small gaps between the medallion and the ceiling. The only way to fix this is to apply caulking around the perimeter β but again, we do not provide caulking or touch-up services. For best results, we recommend having all paint and prep work completed in advance. Weβll handle the safe and centered installation of your medallion and chandelier β just let us know if youβll be including a medallion when requesting your quote!
Should I unpack my chandelier before installation?
Should I unpack my chandelier before installation? π« No β please do not unpack your chandelier before we arrive to install it. Most chandeliers are shipped fully disassembled and carefully packed in a specific order to make installation easier. Unpacking the parts yourself can disrupt this organization and may increase the time and complexity of the installation. β However, we do recommend inspecting the box carefully to check for visible damage and to confirm that all necessary parts β including arms, crystals, mounting hardware, and internal components β appear to be present and unbroken. π If you suspect any parts may be damaged or missing, please open the box carefully and inspect only the affected section. Do not fully unpack or remove all packaging unless you're certain there's an issue. If your chandelier is broken or incomplete and weβre unable to install it, you will still be responsible for our visit fee. π΅ Please note: If we arrive and discover that your fixture cannot be installed due to broken or missing components, a return trip fee starting at $150 will be charged to reschedule the installation. This fee covers time, travel, and lost availability. π¦ We are not responsible for missing, broken, or defective parts from chandeliers purchased elsewhere. Please contact the seller or manufacturer immediately if you find any issues during your inspection.
What will you do to protect my floors during chandelier or light fixture installation?
What will you do to protect my floors during chandelier or light fixture installation? π‘οΈ We always take care to protect your home and flooring during installation. We bring padded moving blankets to cover the immediate work area under your chandelier or fixture. However, due to the nature of our work β which often involves ladders, scaffold wheels, and heavy tools β there is always some risk of minor floor scratches or scuffs during setup and teardown. π If you have new, fragile, or high-value flooring (such as hardwood, marble, or custom tile), we strongly recommend that you install protective floor covering like RAM BOARD or similar material before our arrival. π§° If you prefer, we can provide and install floor protection material for you β just let us know in advance so we can include the cost of supplies and installation time in your quote. We will not automatically bring these materials unless requested ahead of time. β οΈ For safety and liability reasons, we do not remove our shoes during work, and we cannot wear booties or covers while climbing ladders or performing electrical tasks. Proper footwear is essential for safe ladder use and grounding during electrical work. π§Ή Note: We do not remove or dispose of floor protection materials after installation unless this is included as a separately quoted service.
If the installer needs to leave and return to complete the project, are there additional fees?
If the installer needs to leave and return to complete the project, are there additional fees? Yes, additional fees apply if we need to return to your home on another day to complete your project due to reasons outside of our control. Return trip fees help cover the time, travel, and setup costs required to revisit the job site. These fees are based on factors such as: π Scheduling and availability π Distance and mileage πͺ Reinstalling ladders, scaffolding, or equipment π§ Restarting or re-prepping the installation In some cases, the return visit may be charged at the same rate as your original estimate. Common reasons for a return trip include: πΉ Missing or incomplete product components πΉ Fixture hardware that is insufficient for mounting πΉ Manufacturer defects or damaged parts πΉ Last-minute requests for add-ons (e.g., dimmer, ceiling medallion, etc.) πΉ Missing items like light bulbs, switches, or hardware not provided by the homeowner πΉ Any other circumstance that prevents completion on the scheduled day We will never charge a return fee if the delay is due to our own mistake or lack of preparation.

Weβve traveled extensively across the United States to complete high-end and specialty chandelier projects where our expertise is needed. Out-of-state projects require custom travel planning and will be quoted accordingly. This ensures that we can coordinate and complete your project without delay. π Please contact us if you need additional details about travel logistics or want to request a quote for your out-of-state chandelier installation or service.
Is light bulb installation included with chandelier installation?
Is light bulb installation included with chandelier installation? π‘ Light bulb installation is not included in our standard chandelier installation service unless it has been specifically quoted in advance. Installing bulbs β especially in multi-arm, high-mounted, or delicate fixtures β requires extra time, precision, and careful ladder work. This is considered a time-consuming, Γ la carte add-on service and must be requested beforehand. If your bulbs are not unwrapped and ready at the time of installation, additional charges may apply due to: π¦ Extra time required to open individual boxes or packaging πͺ Increased risk of breakage during handling β±οΈ Delays caused by last-minute bulb selections or changes π Requests to add or swap bulbs after the fixture has already been installed and secured will require a separate return visit and will be billed accordingly. β To avoid added costs or delays, please have all bulbs unwrapped, inspected, and placed nearby before we arrive. If you'd like us to install bulbs as part of your service, just let us know ahead of time and weβll include it in your quote.
I need my chandelier delivered but Iβm just storing it for now β what do I need?
I need my chandelier delivered but I'm just storing it for now - what do I need? The safest storage method depends on the fixture's construction, age, condition, size, and how long it will remain in storage. A chandelier should not simply be placed loose on the floor, furniture, or another surface where weight can rest on arms, stems, sockets, crystal branches, glass, or decorative components. For some modern or structurally sound fixtures, supported hanging storage may be appropriate. For antique, vintage, Murano, crystal, pre-owned, or especially delicate fixtures, an inspection may show that partial or full disassembly and individually wrapped components in a properly sized protective box is safer for longer-term storage. We do not force disassembly when old, seized, corroded, repaired, or fragile components make disassembly itself unsafe. Custom boxing, crating, packing materials, disassembly, transportation, and storage are separate services unless specifically included in the written quote. If Shawn Penoyer, LLC will keep customer property in our custody, the Customer-Owned Property, Temporary Custody & Storage provisions of our Terms and any project-specific storage agreement apply. Fragile, antique, high-value, sentimental, or difficult-to-replace fixtures may require acceptance of our Fragile Fixture Liability Acknowledgment before removal, disassembly, packing, transport, storage, or reinstallation.
Why does installation sometimes cost more than the price of my fixture or artwork?
Why does installation sometimes cost more than the price of my fixture or artwork? The cost of installation is not related to the cost of the item itself. Whether your light fixture costs $60 at Home Depot or $26,000 at a specialty store like Restoration Hardware, professional installation involves much more than simply attaching it to a wall or ceiling. When you hire me, you are paying for: π Travel time to and from your home or office π Professional tools such as ladders, laser levels, and anchors π Liability insurance and business overhead π‘ Over 20 years of expertise in chandeliers, crystals, and interior design π§ The skill to ensure proper placement, alignment, and secure installation π The opportunity cost of scheduling time away from larger projects I am a recognized chandelier expert, and I know what is required to install fixtures competently and professionally. Because of my experience and reputation, I am often booked 4β6 weeks out during peak seasons. Thereβs a reason for this β I have a long list of satisfied customers, and my Google Reviews are consistently 5 stars for both my chandelier business and interior design work. For these reasons, I maintain a minimum service fee based on the project, regardless of the purchase price of the fixture or artwork.
Can you install a dimmer switch for my chandelier?
Can you install a dimmer switch for my chandelier? Yes, absolutely β we offer professional dimmer switch installation for all chandelier and lighting fixtures! Adding a dimmer lets you control brightness, set the mood, and improve energy efficiency. We charge $150 to replace a standard light switch with a customer-supplied dimmer. If weβre already onsite for a larger installation project, dimmer installation may be reduced to $80 per unit, depending on scope and access. π Important Notes About Dimmer Installation: We do not supply dimmer switches β due to the wide variety of brands, functions, colors, and compatibility needs, youβll need to purchase the one you prefer. Please be sure to also purchase a matching wall plate, as dimmers often require different sizes than standard toggles. β οΈ Verify Dimmer Compatibility Before Purchase: Not all dimmers are compatible with LED chandeliers or fixtures with internal drivers or ballasts. Using the wrong dimmer may cause flickering, buzzing, or even fixture damage. Itβs your responsibility to confirm compatibility by checking with the chandelier manufacturer prior to purchase and installation. π‘ Also, make sure your bulbs are labeled as βDimmableβ. Non-dimmable bulbs will not function correctly with any dimmer, even if installed properly.
Are verbal estimates final prices?
Are verbal estimates final prices? π¬ No. Verbal estimates are preliminary only. Any estimate provided by phone, text, or while we are on-site should be understood as a general estimate or price range β not a final fixed price. π― Chandelier and light fixture service pricing depends on many project-specific details, including the fixture condition, ceiling height, accessibility, parts and materials needed, wiring condition, travel time, and the actual scope of work discovered during inspection. π§Ύ Final pricing is provided in writing after the scope of work, fixture condition, access, parts, materials, scheduling requirements, and project conditions are reviewed. Written quotes and approved invoices control the final scope and price of work. Verbal discussions, text messages, website examples, or general price ranges do not replace a written quote or approved invoice.
Why can chandelier service pricing change after inspection?
Why can chandelier service pricing change after inspection? π¬ Chandelier service pricing can change after inspection because every fixture, ceiling condition, wiring situation, and access condition is different. A project may initially appear simple, but additional issues are sometimes discovered once the fixture is opened, removed, tested, or partially disassembled. π Common concealed or unexpected conditions may include: β οΈ Deteriorated or unsafe internal wiring π‘ Failed sockets, socket leads, or lamp holders ποΈ Damaged or incompatible dimmers and switches π© Loose arms, frame movement, or structural instability 𧱠Hidden ceiling, junction box, or mounting support issues π§ Specialty parts, missing components, or non-standard fixture construction πͺ High-ceiling access, ladder, lift, scaffold, or difficult access requirements π§ If additional work is needed, we will explain the issue, why the added work is required, and quote the additional scope before proceeding. Our goal is to provide a safe, professional, and properly completed repair β not a temporary fix that ignores hidden problems.
How does scheduling work?
How does scheduling work? π¬ Scheduling depends on current calendar availability, location, project complexity, and confirmed approval of the quote. Appointment availability changes daily because customers may request, approve, book, or prepay for services through our online scheduling and quoting system. π Dates are generally handled on a first-come, first-served basis. Approved quotes with required payment or deposit receive scheduling priority. β οΈ A verbal discussion about a possible appointment time does not reserve the appointment. Scheduling is only confirmed once the quote is approved, any required payment or deposit is received, and the appointment is placed on the calendar. π Standard service appointments are generally not scheduled on weekends or holidays unless approved in advance. Weekend, holiday, rush, or priority scheduling requests may require an additional fee. Because our calendar can change daily, we cannot guarantee appointment availability until the project is approved and scheduled through our system.
Do you install antique, vintage, or pre-owned chandeliers?
Do you install antique, vintage, or pre-owned chandeliers? Yes. We install antique, vintage, used, resale, Murano, crystal, and pre-owned chandeliers when the fixture can be safely handled, supported, wired, and installed. These projects require extra care because the fixture's history, prior handling, prior repairs, storage conditions, and internal condition are often not fully known before removal, cleaning, transport, or installation. Older and pre-owned chandeliers may have loose crystals, weakened arms, missing parts, old or brittle wiring, prior repairs, finish oxidation, rusted or seized fittings, fragile sockets, bent frames, fatigued metal, concealed fractures, or damage that is not immediately visible. If a fixture is unstable, incomplete, improperly packed, structurally questionable, electrically unsafe, or too risky to handle, additional packing, crating, repair evaluation, replacement parts, electrical correction, or a revised scope may be required before installation. We may also decline the work if the fixture cannot be handled safely or if the customer does not accept the risk terms. Customer-provided antique, vintage, Murano, crystal, and pre-owned chandeliers are accepted in as-is condition. Pre-existing defects, seller misrepresentation, missing parts, old wiring, prior repairs, weakened components, subjective value, and concealed damage are not the responsibility of Shawn Penoyer, LLC unless a loss is directly caused by our failure to exercise reasonable care. For these fixtures, please review our Fragile Fixture Liability Acknowledgment and our chandelier crating, packing, and pre-owned fixture policy before approving work.
Can you pick up a chandelier from an antique store, resale shop, or third-party seller?
Can you pick up a chandelier from an antique store, resale shop, or third-party seller? Sometimes. We may pick up a chandelier from an antique store, resale shop, decorator, staging company, online seller, estate sale, mover, or other third-party source if the fixture is safely accessible, properly documented, released for pickup, and ready for professional handling. Used and pre-owned chandeliers are often fragile and may not be properly packed for transport. Before pickup, the customer should confirm that the fixture is the correct item, that all parts are included, and that crystals, arms, canopies, chain, mounting hardware, decorative pieces, electrical leads, remotes, and instructions are present. We are not appraisers, authenticators, or experts in the specific history, maker, condition, or value of a third-party antique or resale fixture unless a separate written evaluation service is quoted. Accepting a fixture for pickup does not mean we guarantee the seller's description, completeness, safety, value, age, origin, or condition. If a chandelier is not properly packed, has questionable repairs, missing components, unstable arms, rusted or seized parts, unclear condition, or requires coordination that prevents us from safely controlling the handling process, we may decline pickup, transport, packing, storage, or installation. Custom packing or crating may be required before transport, especially if the chandelier is already assembled, fragile, antique, oversized, Murano glass, crystal, or being delivered for installation by another company.
Does chandelier cleaning include restoring or polishing antique chandeliers?
Does chandelier cleaning include restoring or polishing antique chandeliers? π¬ No. Chandelier cleaning does not include restoring or polishing antique chandeliers unless those services are specifically quoted in writing. Standard chandelier cleaning is intended to remove ordinary dust and surface buildup from accessible crystal, glass, and decorative components. Antique, vintage, used, and pre-owned chandeliers often have age-related conditions such as finish oxidation, tarnished metal, prior repairs, weakened arms, old wiring, fragile sockets, missing parts, or concealed damage. These conditions are not corrected through standard chandelier cleaning. β οΈ Our standard chandelier cleaning service does not include metal polishing, finish restoration, oxidation removal, refinishing, rewiring, socket repair, structural repair, or making an older chandelier appear new. If a chandelier requires restoration, rewiring, polishing, repair, or replacement parts, those services must be evaluated and quoted separately before work begins. For older or pre-owned chandeliers, please also review our chandelier crating, packing, and pre-owned fixture policy.
Need a Chandelier Installation Quote?
For the most accurate chandelier installation quote, please include photos of the fixture, the ceiling area, ceiling height, fixture size, approximate weight, service address, and whether assembly, crystals, removal, cleaning, pickup, or delivery are needed.
If your chandelier is antique, vintage, pre-owned, already assembled, or purchased from a third-party seller, please mention that when requesting service so we can evaluate handling, packing, support, and installation requirements.
